Collias, a bench in honor of Felix Rozen
The Friends of Felix Rozen association was keen to sponsor one of the three new ‘ladies’ benches’ recently set up by the Collias town hall, opposite the market square. Felix Rozen (1938-2013), an artist represented in many international museums and buried in Collias, never failed to greet the ladies of the village during his walks toward the Gardon [river]. Sitting on their benches, in the same location, they always replied, “Hello Mr. Rozen!” a cheerful greeting which is reminiscent of a certain: “Hello Mr. Courbet!” A commemorative plaque has just been placed on one of the three benches. Its text: “In homage to the light of Collias, its stones, sources of infinite inspiration…” reflects this contemporary painter’s boundless love for his adopted village.
